Technology is Your Friend - NOT
Just got done upgrading my wireless modem. Complimentary upgrade from Centurylink - unfortunately NOT intuitive, and the "installation guide" was worthless. I am pretty geeky, and couldn't figure it out - so called "tech support" which was less than helpful - 20 minutes on hold - and then another 10 to convince her that I was who I said I was - because I didnt' have a phone bill in hand. Finally after providing my billing address and last 4 of SSN, she allowed as I was qualified to talk to her. By that time, I had figured out that the modem password was on the bottom of the modem and had it half configured. Then, when the configuration page came up the user name automatically generated had extra characters - so had to be edited before it would connect. All in all, not a terribly satisfactory tech support call!

Unexpected nice day here on the Olympic Peninsula! Sunny and warm, got all the yard work done at home and at the winery. Relaxed on the deck with an adult beverage - watched all the wildlife coming to the various feeding stations - male hummingbirds have started their migration - all we have remaining are the girls and the juveniles.

TGIF
Another week come and gone - still Junuary weather except for two days which were sunny and warmer - now back to the June gloom!
Finally got all the regional awards done and sent off for engraving - rosettes ordered - always a stressful time.
Two fire cases this week - the first ones in Jefferson for a long time - hope it isn't a preview of the summer.

Busy weekend - as I said to Larry last night, all weekends need to be 3 days, so we can get everything done!
Friday afternoon I managed to get the back yard grass beat into submission - with all the rain it just keeps growing!
Saturday was the usual trip down to Silverdale, Costco, Fred Meyer, Wally World and the base - got back around 2 and got stuff put away and headed down to the Rose for Prometheus - really annoying people sitting next to us in the balcony - talking and making noise - suspect he had Tourette's or something like it - nonetheless, it was distracting. Not the best movie. The director stated that it was not a prequel to Alien, but the last scene seemed to deny that!
Sunday was devoted to cleaning the house, shortening dog nails, doing multiple loads of laundry and putting the last of the show supplies down in the basement.
Now it is Monday and I'm back at work!

Its been a while!
I knew I wouldn't be wonderful at keeping up with this online journal! At least I have a bit of an excuse. The Commencement show went well despite having completely new management this year. All the exhibitors seemed to have a good time, the vendors were generally happy, and it looks like we made a tiny profit. YAY!!
When I got home Sunday I was really beat - getting too old for three hard days on my feet, coupled with loading and unloading, carry up from the basement and getting stuff back down (still not done).
Greta's skin problems seem to be much better - it remains to be seen how she will do once she finishes up with the anti-fungals - got some shampoo to try to keep it in check - but finding the time to do her twice a week is going to be difficult. Ike's urinary problems seem better on the Proin, but he had problems again last night. I took in a urine sample yesterday to see if it is Cushings or early kidney failure - neither a pleasant prospect.
Beautiful day today - sunny and predicted highs near 70 - I need to use the weed whacker in the back yard after work - everything grows so fast at this time of year!!

I spent a couple of hours getting show supplies organized and ready for next weekend this afternoon. I got all the awards tags trimmed and taped - except for 3 pages worth that are not correct - will get them corrected, printed and laminated tomorrow and will get them taped and cut - and then will bag all the awards by judge. All the leftover rosettes have their new heads and the rest are bagged with the glue gun and glue sticks for the new shipment that Poppy will be bringing to the show.
Sure wish we had more entries - it looks really pathetic and I don't know how we will be able to break even.

Starting out
I've never been a diarist, but as a computer geek, blogs have begun to fascinate me - so I will give this a try - I'm not expecting anyone to read this, but having a place where I can document some of life's events for my own use seems like a good idea.
Thelma, our oldest raccoon came up and peered into the kitchen door early this morning - sending Greta into a barking frenzy. Thelma is the only one who does this - all the rest wait on the deck railing and look hopeful - Thelma has been around for a long time and feels entitled. I suspect that she has a new litter and wants food when she wants it.
Almost all the bird species are back - we seem light on hummingbirds - I'm not yet up to filling the feeders every day - and last year I'd have to fill them twice a day. Maybe the babies aren't fledged yet.
I'm about halfway up the foot on Nancy's Xmas socks - I like the pattern a lot and will include a photo when I get a bit more done.
